Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) said on Saturday he is concerned about the double standards being applied to presidential candidate Donald Trump and doughnut-licking, “I hate America” pop singer Ariana Grande.

In a weekend Facebook post, Duncan brought up security camera footage from a Lake Elsinore, California-doughnut shop that showed the 22-year-old singer getting dangerously close to licking powdered doughnuts.

On the video, Grande could be heard saying, “I hate America!”

The congressman wondered why the footage didn’t elicit the same reactions as Trump’s anti-immigrant remarks.

The Republican wrote:

Just curious: where are the NBC’s, Univisions, ESPN’s, record labels, concert venues, etc in this Ariana Grande incident? They were mighty quick to jump on the ‘bash Donald Trump’ bandwagon when he spoke about illegal aliens and ‘sanctuary city’ policies.

This misguided young pop singer said that she hated America and hated Americans, while she proceeded to contaminate food for resale with the very tongue with which she uttered the hatred rant.

The double-standards in this country are disgusting.”

The doughnut shop, Wolfee Dounts, said it did not want to press charges against Grande.

Trump, one of more than a dozen candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination, lost a handful of business deals following his anti-Mexican remarks at his presidential announcement.
