Mitt Romney, running largely unopposed at this point, is projected to win primaries in Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island, according to the Associated Press. Only New York has yet to be called.
Delaware, where Romney was leading over Newt Gingrich with 57% of the vote to his 26% with 75% of the votes counted, is a rough blow for whats left of the Gingrich campaign. Newt spent much of the week there in a last ditch effort to prolong Romney’s march to the presumptive nomination. His spokesman, RC Hammond, told TPM before the race that they will “reassess the path forward” if they see a poor showing.
“You always need to know the path to victory — if it looks like there isn’t one we’ll look at that and make that reasseessment,” he said.
