The liberal group Americans United for Change released a new hitting Republicans for simultaneously opposing climate change while admitting they have no expertise in science.

The ad, “#notascientist” is a three-minute splice of various prominent elected Republicans saying they aren’t scientists while denying that either that climate change is an actual phenomenon or that it’s real but that humans couldn’t possibly be causing it. It starts out with former Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) describing the new “fad” theory of climate change.

“It’s called ‘global warming,'” Stockman said.

“The science just simply doesn’t back up the issue of global warming,” former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) said in a clip featured in the ad.

Other politicians in the ad include Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Sen. David Vitter (R-LA), Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R), former Gov. Jeb Bush (R), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

“The data are not supporting what the advocates are arguing,” Cruz said. “The last 15 years there has been no recorded warming.”

Americans United for Change plans to post the web ad in the D.C. and Florida markets.

I’m not a scientist but I think it has to do with a series of tubes and they can get filled.

  3. Since Republicans ignore facts to satisfy their global corporate agenda, you could make ones for #notaneconomist, #notaworker, #notforcivilrights, and more.

I think the intent is admirable but I would like to see charts of data interspersed with the false statements from pols, just to demonstrate how completely wrong they are. This ad just feels like preaching to the choir.
