Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos on Thursday unveiled three new device categories in its Kindle brand line at a Los Angeles press event, The Verge reported. They are:
The new Kindle Fire, an upgrade of Amazon’s hit 2011 tablet with double the RAM and longer battery life, for $159, $40 less than its predecessor.
The new Kindle Fire HD, a higher resolution version of the Fire tablet line that comes in two sizes: 7 inches and 8.9 inches, both of which include a front-facing HD camera and video-conferencing software. They are priced at $299 and $499 respectively.
The new Kindle with “Paperwhite” display, which is a white-colored version of the Kindle e-ink screen that appears gray on older devices, as well as a built-in backlight. There are two versions: One with Wi-Fi only connectivity for $119, the other with 3G connectivity for for $179.
