GOP Senate nominee Todd Akin explained that his opponent, Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill, goes after big government like a “dog” playing “fetch,” at a fundraiser in Springfield, Missouri Saturday, reports PoliticMo.

“She goes to Washington, D.C., it’s a little bit like one of those dogs, ‘fetch,’” Akin said. “She goes to Washington, D.C., and get all of these taxes and red tape and bureaucracy and executive orders and agencies and brings all of this stuff and dumps it on us in Missouri.”

PoliticMo has audio of the comment.

The McCaskill campaign is jumping on the comments, which come two months after Akin’s infamous “legitimate rape” line and after saying in September that McCaskill gave a debate performance that was not as “ladylike” as during her last campaign.

*Ed. note: A previous version of this post said Akin said McCaskill was “like a dog.” It has been corrected to show that Akin said the senator was “like one of those dogs.”
