Acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller told the Senate Finance Committee at a Tuesday hearing that the IRS conduct in targeting targeting conservative groups reflected “foolish mistakes” but not “an act of partisanship.”

“Foolish mistakes were made in the workload selection,” he said. While intolerable, this was a mistake and not an act of partisanship. The agency is moving forward and learned its lesson.”

Miller announced his resignation from his position last week.
