ABC: Police Protecting Capitol Are Unpaid Due To Shutdown

U.S. Capitol Police officers, who responded to an incident that ended in gunfire near the building Thursday, are working but will not be compensated until the federal government is re-opened because they are deemed “essential” employees, accoring to ABC News.

“They will get paid eventually, but no paychecks until the government opens back up,” a top Senate aide told ABC News.
