5.5 Magnitude Quake Strikes Western China

A 5.5 magnitude earthquake on Monday struck Xinjiang, in the northwestern region of China, the AP reports. There were reports of homes damaged, but no reports of injuries or deaths. Only about 1,000 people live in the area, according to state news agency Xinhua.
