One injured student has undergone surgery and another hospitalized student is doing well following a school shooting in Nevada, Mike Mieras, chief of police for the Washoe County School District said Monday.
Of the two deceased, one was a school staff member and the other “appears to be a student/suspect,” Mieras said.
Mieras praised the school response and parent unification following the shooting.
“The parent reunification, again, went very well,” he said at a press conference. “The school did an excellent job on going into the emergency management procedures.”
One eye witness told the Reno Gazette-Journal he saw a Sparks Middle School student shoot a teacher outside of the school.
The next press conference will take place at 4 p.m. PT.
