All three cable news network are taking a live feed of Donald Trump’s townhall meeting in New Hampshire where he’s currently taking questions from voters. And I must say, it’s masterful.

He’s talking his border wall, about the prefab concrete planks he’ll use to do it. Because he’s a builder and he knows construction and planks. So it will be “beautiful.” It’ll be the like Trump Taj MaWall. It won’t just be functional and keep out the Mexican rapists. It will be classy and beautiful too. Because someday it might be called the Trump Wall. So he needs to be sure it’s classy. And he gets in a mention of the Great Wall of China. They did it and we can’t? We gotta get tougher on China.

It’s masterful in the sense of a tour de force of ridiculousness, an entrancing fugue of nonsense. The Trump Wall? He needs to be sure it’s up to his standards? That’s kind of funny, riffing off the outsized ego that he embraces as the core of his brand. And he has the audience absolutely eating out of his hands. And it is simply the case that he is a master of the call and response, jumping between a joke and a jab. Media and talking is his element. He’s really, really good at this.

He won’t be going anywhere soon. The GOP establishment has thrown everything at him already. And he gave them lots to throw. None of it worked. Have you heard top Republicans trashing him in the last few days? Not even close. On that front, he’s already won. It didn’t even go 15 rounds.
