Apropos of reports that some of Trump’s lawyers wanted Jared Kushner to resign early last summer, here’s a bit of additional detail.

It actually shows the unrealism that prevailed in the Kasowitz era and I suspect continues to do so. When Marc Kasowitz came in for his brief stint as Trump’s Russia czar (appreciate the congrats), the idea was that he would ease Kushner out and in so doing save Trump.

Does that make sense? No, it really does not make any sense. But that was the plan. The idea was that Kushner had gotten his hands dirty and perhaps dirtiest with the Russia plotting. So jettisoning Kushner and making him take the fall for Russia would protect Trump.

Obviously, it didn’t turn out that way.
