Social Media and Community Manager

TPM is looking for a talented, enthusiastic journalist to manage and build TPM’s reader community. Applicants should have a deep familiarity with TPM, its core areas of coverage of politics and American political culture. The position is based in our New York City office.

The Social Media and Community Manager will a) lead our social media efforts and b) interact with readers in various formats including our members’ forum, newsletters and email and more.

The Social Media and Community manager will be our primary voice finding new readers for unique TPM content and deepening our relationship with our core readership.

Applicants must have a ready knowledge of contemporary US politics and a strong dose of news junky-dom, as well as an appreciation of the TPM style. The job is fast paced and sometimes frenetic, especially when news breaks. Multitasking should be your default style. The perfect candidate will be able to translate a love of politics into a social media message that fits TPM’s voice.

In addition to interacting with TPM’s loyal and vociferous readers, the Community Manager will be charged with working with TPM’s editorial staff to keep it informed of new developments, strategies and best practices in social media.

Applicants should have a minimum of one year’s relevant journalism experience or substantial experience in college journalism.
