Attorneys for Christine Blasey Ford confirmed Saturday that their client has agreed to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee next week about her sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh.

The lawyers’ brief letter contained no information about a specific date or about the terms of the testimony offered by the committee. They called aspects of the proposal “fundamentally inconsistent” with a “fair, impartial investigation.”

Committee chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) had set a firm deadline of Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET for Ford to accept the offer to speak publicly about her allegations against the Supreme Court nominee. In their letter, attorneys asked staffers to shore up the details in a Saturday afternoon call.

According to reports, Ford is concerned over details of the process, like who will be questioning her and how many cameras are allowed in the room. Her lawyers have said she is receiving an “avalanche of threats.”

Grassley and other Senate Republicans have been pressing Ford to move the process along so they can proceed with Kavanaugh’s confirmation. The committee requested that the hearing be held next Wednesday.
