One of the woman the Donald Trump campaign announced last month would be serving on its economic advisory council did not in fact accept the job. Betsy McCaughey, a columnist and notorious Obamacare critic, told TPM in an email Wednesday that she had turned down the invitation.
Her name was among a list of eight woman the Trump campaign touted in an expansion of its economic team, after its initial list of economic advisors featured no women and six guys named Steve. The press release naming her to the council was sent out Aug. 11, and is still live on the Trump campaign website without any correction.
“I was very honored to be asked to join Trump’s Economic Advisory Council, but as a columnist I could not accept an official position with the campaign,” McCaughey told TPM.
Earlier on Wednesday, McCaughey also corrected CNN for describing her as a member of the Trump’s economic advisory council. She is, however, an avowed Trump supporter.
Accuracy and truth are terribly overrated commodities.
It took her until now to do this? I smell a rat.
The only thing more insane than the level of disorder and chaos in the Trump campaign is the fact that he and Hillary are so close in the polls. It’s as though Trump is going out of his way to make a complete mockery of our electoral process and nobody is even bothering to notice. It’s utterly surreal. This is more like performance art than it is a Presidential campaign yet… nobody seems to care.
Wonder what her binder’s full of?
Pretty much tells me everything I need to know.
