Brian Lowry Brian Lowry is a veteran media columnist, critic and reporter. He most recently served as the Hollywood correspondent for Status.news. He spent eight years at CNN as a columnist and critic beginning in 2016, preceded by serving as a columnist and chief TV critic at Variety. Before that, he worked as a reporter and columnist covering the television industry for the Los Angeles Times, following his first stint in a similar capacity at Variety. Lowry has been a contributor to National Public Radio and Fox Sports and is the former co-host of "Square Off," a weekly talk program about the television business that aired on TV Guide Network. He is also the author of two authorized companion guides to the Fox series "The X-Files.” Since leaving CNN in September 2024, Lowry has written for the New York Times, MSNBC.com, Los Angeles Times, Vanity Fair and the Daily Beast. Lowry graduated from UCLA and resides in Los Angeles.
