Real estate mogul Donald Trump has a commanding lead in the Republican presidential contest, polling at more than double his closest opponent, according to a national poll released Thursday morning.

In the Quinnipiac Poll, Trump polled at 28 percent among Republican voters.

Former neurosurgeon Ben Carson polled at 12 percent while three other candidates – former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz – tied at 7 percent support. Eleven percent of voters were undecided.

Trump told CNN on Thursday morning that he was happy with his lead in the Republican contest.

“I’m honored by the polls, but I’m not surprised by it,” Trump said during an interview on CNN’s “New Day.”

The poll also found Trump led the GOP’s “No Way” list of candidates who voters say they would never support at 26 percent.

The poll was conducted from August 20 to 25 among 1,563 national voters with live interviews on cell phones and landlines. The national margin of error was plus or minus 2.5 percent. Among the surveyed, 666 were Republicans with a margin of error plus or minus 3.8 percent while 647 were Democrats with a margin of error plus or minus 3.9 percent.

  1. Question: Who votes for Ben Carson ?

  2. With a 2.5% margin of error, this puts Trump’s support comfortably in the Crazification Factor of 27%.

  3. Why is this surprising? The GOP have spent thirty years bad mouthing professional politicians, and as such, they now have their ideal candidate- a non-politician who says what the Base wants and doesn’t actually have any plans to fix the country.

They are reaping what they have sewn, and at the rate things are going, the Grim Reaper may be here for the United States any day now.
