Weeping And Gnashing Of Teeth: Mitch Promises Nothing But Apocalyptic Terrors Without Filibuster

Ever since he failed to strong-arm Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) into promising to keep the filibuster in their power-sharing resolution on January 26, the doomsday prepping Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has been trying to scare Democrats with fire-and-brimstone prophecies threatening to stonewall their entire agenda if they dare to nuke the filibuster — you know, the 60-vote procedure McConnell’s been weaponizing for years to stonewall Democrats’ entire agenda.

It’s difficult to take people seriously when they threaten to do the thing they’ve already been doing if you take away the tool that allows them to do the thing in the first place. But that sure hasn’t stopped Mitch from trying!

These are the (definitely brand-new) horrors that Democrats can expect if they don’t let McConnell bully them into letting him be the king of the Senate:

BROVID-19: Gov. Cuomo’s Magic ‘Wand’ In Brother’s Famous Fever Dream Was Actually … A Prized COVID Test

In early April last year, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo joined one of his governor brother’s midday pandemic press conferences and recounted in vivid detail a fever dream he had while laid low with the virus.

He said that amidst his own battle with COVID-19, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) had appeared to him and donned a ballet costume. He had danced around his younger brother, waving a wand to make his illness disappear.

Biden Holds His First Solo Press Conference As POTUS

At his first solo press conference Thursday, President Joe Biden faced a battery of questions about immigration, with reporters seemingly picking up on the recent GOP talking points on “Biden’s border crisis.”

He expressed aggravation at one point when a reporter asked him if the deplorable conditions migrant children are living in were “acceptable” to him, incredulously asking if that was a “serious question.”

Biden had been facing some scrutiny for not holding his own press briefing until now, though White House reporters too have been criticized for willingly adopting Republican narratives.

Biden took charge of the briefing at points, using unrelated questions to pivot to his infrastructure initiative and foreign policy experience.

The biggest news out of the presser came when Biden said that it’s his “expectation” that he’ll run for reelection in 2024, and that he “can’t picture” U.S. troops still being in Afghanistan next year.

There were no questions about COVID-19, despite the enduring pandemic, and little mention of gun control, after back-to-back massacres. Biden did get a question specifically related to taking unilateral action on guns, which he said was just a matter of timing before pivoting to infrastructure.
