Senior Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett will give the keynote address Oct. 20 at a Washington, D.C. conference held by the National Jewish Democratic Council, the group said in a press release today.
The conference, which will be held October 20-21 at the Hilton Washington, aims to provide a chance for participants to discuss important issues like Israel and health care with Democratic officials.
David A. Harris, President of NJDC, said, “American Jews voted for President Barack Obama by an overwhelming margin of 78%, shattering all predictions,” and that this conference will give them an opportunity for “genuine discussion” with leaders about everything “from the direction of the Jewish vote to what’s causing ‘baseless hatred’ and the deterioration of political discourse in the Jewish community and beyond.”
Other confirmed speakers include House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine, Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren and Democratic strategist Paul Begala.
This event marks the first time Jarrett will formally address a Jewish audience since joining the Obama Administration.
