During the State of the Union address on Tuesday, President Donald Trump said that “no one” has benefited more from the “thriving economy” than women.

After Democratic women stood to applaud, Trump reacted with pleasant surprise. “You weren’t supposed to do that,” he said.

“Don’t sit down yet, you’re gonna like this” Trump continued. “One century after Congress passed a constitutional amendment giving women the right to vote, we also have more women serving in Congress than at any other time before.”

Democratic women cheered and high-fived each other as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi gestured to their section. The hall then filled with chants of “USA! USA! USA!”

  1. Other than that celebration it was one long, plodding, exceedingly dull speech.

  2. Unintended consequences, eh?

Not to be picky but “stood to applaud” doesn’t quite convey it, first they stood up and pointed and gestured at themselves, the message being yeah many of the new jobs created in the country last year were women and here are a whole bunch of them created as a backlash to you. Which obviously went right over Trump’s head.

  4. Narcissists are always the last to know when they are being mocked and laughed at…
