President Donald Trump personally commented for the first time on the on-the-record sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on Monday, saying of his confirmation process: “If it takes a little delay it’ll take a little delay.”

Still, the President said it was a “ridiculous question” when a reporter asked if Kavanaugh had offered to withdraw his nomination.

Kavanaugh, Trump added, had “never had even a little blemish on his record.”

Trump also criticized Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) for not bringing up Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations against Kavanaugh earlier, though Feinstein was respecting Ford’s wishes to keep the allegations confidential.

Trump had not spoken to Kavanaugh since Ford’s on-the-record allegation went public Sunday, he said.
