President Donald Trump, ever hot and cold on his own staff, may be cooling on attorney general nominee William Barr before Barr is even through the confirmation process.

According to CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Trump was surprised and dismayed when Barr testified to his close relationship with and high regard of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

“The President did not like that,” Collins told CNN host Wolf Blitzer Thursday. “He was complaining to aides saying he didn’t know how close they were, and he didn’t know how much their work at the Department of Justice had overlapped previously.”

She said that he talked himself down afterwards by reminding himself that both men are part of the “Washington establishment.”
