MOORESTOWN, N.J. (AP) — An employee of an armed security company opened fire on a co-worker inside the business Monday morning before fatally shooting himself, police said.

The surviving victim was shot three times, but was conscious when he was airlifted to the hospital, Moorestown police Lt. Lee Lieber said. He was airlifted to Cooper Hospital in Camden, but his exact condition wasn’t immediately known.

Lieber said the shooting, which began inside the Shields Business Solutions office Monday morning around 7 before moving outside, is being investigated as an attempted murder-suicide.

He said that only one of the men had a weapon.

“None of the employees had any weapons at the time this occurred. They check them in and out, except for the one subject who was deemed the shooter,” Lieber said.

The identities of the victims were not immediately released.

The office is located in a business park and is less than a mile away from the Moorestown police department building, and about 10 miles east of Philadelphia.

Shields Business Solutions provides armored car, ATM and security services, according to its website.

  1. What a shame. If only someone at this armed security company had been in possession of a gun, they could have stopped this senseless tragedy.
