As President Donald Trump constructs his campaign infrastructure on messages of historic progress and constant “winning,” he’s struggling to bat back a series of well-publicized failures on trade, immigration and North Korea denuclearization.

According to the Washington Post, his image as a crusading and effective outsider has sustained blows recently as the trade deficit balloons to historic highs, illegal border crossings skyrocket despite Trump’s hard line and North Korea brazenly shores up their nuclear weaponry.

Trump has been consistently shifting the blame to others in his orbit, but reportedly frets about his own personal approval rates.
