After meeting with women who have alleged sexual harassment by staffers on Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) 2016 presidential campaign, a person who participated in the discussion told Politico the conversation “went as well as it could have.”
Several former female campaign staffers have come forward in recent weeks alleging they were sexually harassed or assaulted by male staffers while working on the senator’s 2016 presidential campaign. Sanders apologized to the women, but was criticized for his brusqueness and agreed to meet with victims along with a workplace harassment consulting firm on Wednesday.
The meeting facilitators told Politico that Wednesday’s conversation was just the beginning of mediating the issue. The group plans to discuss the campaign’s culture with other 2016 staffers and will likely put together guidelines for Sanders if he decides to run in 2020.
Sanders’s wife, Jane Sanders, also attended the meeting, Politico noted.
