Ric Grenell, President Donald Trump’s former acting Director of National Intelligence and U.S. ambassador to Germany, is reportedly poised to join the Trump campaign upon his departure.

According to Politico, Grenell will assume a senior role and work on the campaign’s fundraising efforts.

The Trump official denied the report, as did Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale.

“Fake news,” Grenell tweeted.

“I like @RichardGrenell and we are friends but this story isn’t true,” Parscale tweeted. “Just more garbage of people making sensational claims.”

On Tuesday, Grenell reportedly declassified transcripts of former Trump adviser Michael Flynn’s calls with a Russian official and other documents in the FBI’s Trump-Russia investigation.

John Ratcliffe, whom Trump appointed as permanent DNI despite his lack of qualifications in the intelligence field, will have to decide whether to publicly release the documents, which are at the center of Trumpworld’s conspiracy theory that Flynn’s prosecution was a setup by the FBI.

The conspiracy theory alleges that intelligence officials tricked the former adviser into lying to the FBI despite the fact that he pleaded guilty to doing so.
