COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio school district accused of sex-based discrimination against a transgender student is suing President Barack Obama’s administration over its directive that public schools let such students use bathrooms and locker rooms matching their gender identity.
Highland Local School District in Morrow County faces an unresolved civil rights complaint about the treatment of an elementary student who is biologically male but identifies as female.
The district’s lawsuit was filed Friday and says the school made other accommodations for the child. It says allowing the student to use the girls’ restroom would jeopardize privacy rights of other students but not doing so could cost the district $1 million annually in federal funding.
A message seeking comment was left Friday for the Justice Department.
Eleven states have sued to challenge the directive.

And how many millions will you spend to prevent a 10 year old from using the bathroom that’s appropriate?
And don’t you think it’s ironic that their response is analogous to pissing into the wind? Don’t most municipalities have ordinances against public urination, or does it not apply since they’re pissing all over themselves? At any rate, they’re certainly pissing their public coffers down the drain with this reactionary legal tantrum.
This involves a perceived overreach by a chief executive who clearly doesn’t “know his place.” The cost of litigation is therefore justified, without limit.
Oh those poor dears, bless their little hearts. If they would only drive less than a hour south on I-71 to the Columbus School District to see how it is done with no fuss. But that would make them like the evil urban school district.
