Rupert Murdoch isn’t quite ready to get behind the tea party movement.
“I don’t think we should be supporting the tea party, or any other party,” Murdoch said during an interview Tuesday for The Kalb Report at the National Press Club. Murdoch’s statement was in response to a question from the audience asking about promotions for the tea party movement that ran on Fox Business Network.
Murdoch also faced questions on Fox News’ conservative tilt. And when asked to name a Democrat who regularly appeared on his network, Murdoch paused for a moment before answering, “Probably every night, Greta Van Susteren. Certainly close to the Democratic Party. She certainly doesn’t do many political stories, she’s just a great journalist who goes after any story she can get.”
Earlier, Murdoch was asked about Sarah Palin’s role on Fox News. “If something big happens, we might go to a Democrat and then go to Sarah Palin or whatever. I don’t know how often [Fox News President] Roger [Ailes] uses Sarah Palin. I know whenever he does, the ratings leap,” Murdoch said.
“We’re not averse to high ratings,” he added with a laugh.
