WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he’s canceling the Senate’s traditional August recess.
McConnell said that he’s decided to cancel the usual summer getaway “due to the historic obstruction by Senate Democrats of the president’s nominees.” He also cited his goal of passing the annual appropriations bills before the end of the fiscal year, on Sept. 30.
Democrats immediately responded that Republicans are so nervous about the November midterm election that will determine control of the Senate that McConnell is keeping Democrats away from the campaign trail this summer.
Not all is lost for senators hoping to take a break. The Republican leader’s office says it’s expected that senators will be away from Washington during the first full week of August before returning for the rest of the month.
The Senate has been in session? What have they been doing?
Are they trying to legislate or something? As far as I was aware, the only responsibility and job tasking of a Republican Senator was to be on the Sunday morning shows to stutter and mumble about how Donald Trump isn’t a good role model but you’d still vote for any legislation he’d support, if you ever had prospective legislation, or whatever.
Good they only work about a day and a half every week. Then they take long weekends frequently and at least a full week every month. Therefore why do they need a full month off. Especially then that gives themselve only a few days left in the session before the fiscal year ends. Has always been bullshit.
As for REPUG chances, this move also will hurt incumbent REPUGS as much as Dims.
Yes. The traditional Republican tactic of playing the victim card. Poor, poor Republicans. Yes, i pity them.
“I’m mostly known for my honesty.”

That’s rich, I remember some Supreme Court Nominee being obstructed by McConnell, I hope the talking heads will mention that.
