House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) stood by President Donald Trump after he barred House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) from going on her overseas trip, widely seen as retaliation to her State of the Union letter.
“Why would she want to go overseas while the government is shut down, with people missing their paychecks?” McCarthy said to reporters. “I think it’s appropriate, that we could get back together, it would not take long and we could solve this problem.”
