The undocumented immigrants who are reportedly maids at President Donald Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey golf club have been abused and threatened with deportation since Trump was elected president, their lawyer told CNN Thursday.

“In the beginning everything was great,” attorney Anibal Romero told CNN. “Since he became president, the staff at the club has in a way become empowered. And now there is plenty of abuse, they have, at least Vicky (Morales) has been physically assaulted on numerous occasions. They have been both — they were both threatened with deportation. They were coerced into doing work they didn’t want to do.”

Romero also told CNN that his clients are not just simply maids at the golf club, but are personally responsible for cleaning the rooms of Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump.

Maid at Bedminster: Another job Americans don’t want. Americans don’t want to clean Big Mac sesame seeds and gawd knows what else from cadet bone spurs bed sheets.

In addition to cell phones, the maids had to be prohibited from using stain-identifying ultraviolet lights.

FWIW, this is pretty much a standard tactic for employers who hire undocumented workers. Any time the workers get the slightest bit uppity, or if they get injured on the job and would otherwise get compensation, a company is shocked, shocked to learn that they’ve been deceived, and suddenly awakens to its patriotic duty to get inconvenient personnel tossed out of the country.

(Long ago, I did some reporting on this kind of thing with regard to foreign graduate students, who at some universities would be housed under miserable conditions, paid next to nothing, and threatened with expulsion/deportation if they didn’t produce results for the professor who owned them.)
