Rep. Steve King (R-IA) on Saturday called the allegations of sexual assault against Brett Kavanaugh “character assination,” adding that if all male Supreme Court nominees were held to the same standard as Kavanaugh, none would be confirmed.

“I’m thinking, is there any man in this room that wouldn’t be subjected to such an allegation? A false allegation?” King said at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Fall Family Banquet, according to the Des Moines Register.

“How can you disprove something like that? Which means, if that’s the new standard, no man will ever qualify for the Supreme Court again,” King added.

In recent months, King has reposted a neo-Nazi and a white nationalist on his Twitter account without facing consequences from the state or national Republican Party, nor from congressional leadership. He’s up for reelection in November against Democrat J.D. Scholten.
