After President Donald Trump sent Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi a letter ignoring her request to postpone the State of the Union, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway theorized that Pelosi made the initial request because she can’t control her “temper” or “her own chamber.”

“I think fundamentally she is someone who doesn’t always have control of her temper about the President, but she often doesn’t have control of her own chamber,” Conway said. “I think she’s afraid that many people are not going to show up, and that’s embarrassing to her.”

Conway also suggested that Trump only made the decision to move forward with the State of the Union on Tuesday, despite Pelosi’s request, because people wanted to be able to plan ahead for the event, including the first lady’s guests.
