Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) called the political stalemate over border wall funding a “contrived and phony crisis” and said Democratic lawmakers are just looking for a win against President Trump.
“This is an entirely contrived and phony crisis right now, and by that I mean the political here crisis in Washington, where Ms. Pelosi and Sen. Schumer simply want to beat President Trump,” Cornyn told Fox News. “They want to deny him what he’s asking for, and they want the political benefit among their base for having done so.”
