What deliciousness if his opponent can hang on…
Jeebus. I was just lamenting that this racist ahole King was going to win (and still might). At this time, all of Iowa is leaning Democratic, so there is hope for the cornhuskers. They were always the most pleasant folks when I visited.
OT?- what is up with our our Democracy/Republic? I go through this every election. In colonial times, when we talked about life or death as a unified country vs, those nasty Brits, the Senate (not population-based) and the later Electoral College (not population-based) made some sense as a compromise between large/populated states (e.g., VA, and small states, e.g., RI). Today, it is archaic. Every election I see small populace states voting for Senators with 100K votes vs. large state vote counts of 30x that. Bush and Trump would not have been elected except for the EC. What is the answer? I fear it will never change.
Edit seconds later- King now is winning. I take back all the nice thoughts I had about cornhuskers.
Pleasant dreams, all.
If Sioux County hasn’t been counted yet, King wins by +5. Sad.
This from 2-6-20 The New York Times, “Iowa Caucus Results Riddled With Errors and Inconsistencies.”
"There were more than 10 cases where a viable candidate lost vote share in the final alignment, even though that is precluded by the caucus rules."
