The bronze Obama is on the move!
After some public outcry over a statue of Barack Obama in Jakarta’s Menteng Park, Indonesian officials announced Friday that they will relocate it to the president’s former elementary school.
Jakarta’s government considered moving the statue after some claimed that the president had done little to contribute to Indonesia since taking office.
Most notably, the backlash came from an Indonesian Facebook group called “Take Down the Barack Obama Statue in Menteng Park,” which now has over 56,000 members.
The statue will be moved to the public elementary school Obama attended as a child in Jakarta, from 1967 to 1971.
