Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), one of President Donald Trump’s most stalwart allies, creatively dismissed Michael Cohen’s evidence that Trump signed reimbursement checks for Stormy Daniels’ hush money payments from his personal account, saying that “people don’t write checks if they think they’re involved in a crime.”
“You know, ‘here’s my part in the crime,'” he added.
Cohen testified Wednesday before the House Oversight Committee that Trump reimbursed him for the Daniels’ payment in installments during his presidency.

Stupid people do.
My guess is that:
IANAL, but I doubt either is a valid criminal defense.
Ah, the “no one could be that stupid” defense. Good luck with that.
So Senator Graham you’re going with “Trump is too dumb to know the rules?” Or hey he was really smart to write the check so now they can take the tax exemption for business purposes. Which is more believable?
Oh, that makes it OK then, because all that matters is whether the person thought they were committing a crime, not whether they actually committing a crime. Case closed, I guess.
