Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) slammed the “tyranny” of talk radio show hosts for the impending government shutdown.
“Do we succumb to tyranny of talk radio hosts?” Corker wondered aloud to reporters, according to CNN’s Manu Raju and other reporters who heard the remark.
“We have two talk radio hosts who influenced the President,” he added. “That’s tyranny, isn’t it?”
The government could shutdown at the end of the day Friday over Trump’s insistence that Congress appropriate $5 billion for a border wall. He’s previously said multiple times that he would be “proud” to shut down the government over wall funding.
It’s unclear wh0 exactly Corker meant to single out: Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter both raged at Trump on Wednesday for initially appearing to back away from his demand for border wall funding, but so did plenty of other far-right Republicans.
It’s been clear for a decade that the Republicans’ only goal is to have the best sound bite on Fox News in the evening. This shouldn’t be a revelation for Corker in 2018.
OT: Sad news
All I want for Christmas is an overturned veto.
They discovered the tumors when they did x-rays after her fall. Caught very early. No evidence of further cancer in the lungs or in the rest of her body.
But, oh, geez. What a week.
The fact we have a sitting President having private conversations with Rush Limbaugh about policy matters demonstrates the depth of our problems.
