The Republican chief counsel for nominations on the Senate Judiciary Committee posted in since-deleted tweets Wednesday night that he was “unfazed and determined” and that “We will confirm Judge Kavanaugh.”
Slate captured the tweets from the staffer, Mike Davis, in a screenshot before he locked his account and deleted them:
Davis reopened his account Thursday and addressed the tweets:
To clear up any confusion, I was referring to Democrats’ partisan political attacks and their refusal to take part in the committee’s thorough and fair investigation. I deleted the tweet to avoid any further misinterpretation by left wing media as so often happens on Twitter.

Christine Blasey Ford, who recently publicly accused Kanaugh of sexually assaulting her in high school, has pushed through her lawyers for the FBI to supplement its background investigation of Kavanaugh before she and he answer questions before the committee. Her lawyer also said in a statement Wednesday that “there are multiple witnesses whose names have appeared publicly and should be included in any proceeding.”
Grassley has rejected the efforts to allow for more time, giving Blasey until Friday morning to answer his request that she attend a public or private hearing or speak to committee staffers. As one of those staffers, Davis just showed his hand.
H/t Slate.
