Sens. Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Todd Young (R-IN) have teamed up to request a report on Saudi Arabia’s human rights record, which could result in a vote to halt an arms trade worth billions.
According to Politico, the two are reacting in part because of the administration’s indifference after Saudi officials’ brutal slaying of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Sens. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) are also working to block recent arms sales.
GOP Senators…
All corrupted?
If not, how much more than 80%?
I’m looking forward to Trump inviting Graham to play golf this coming weekend. That should nip this bi-partisan move to block the arms deal in the bud…
So many opportunities for republikkkans to show a spine and actually stand up to the abomination’s most egregious abuses of power. Will they actually follow through? Fat chance.
And the ever stalwart Lindsey actually standing up to the abomination - bwaaahahahahahahahahaha…
At least the issue is being kept in the public eye.
The script here is well known: A majority in each house votes to block, Trump vetoes, a two-thirds vote fails. Case closed.
All Saudi Arabia has to do is promise to block asylum seekers and buy more corn and the weapons buy will get a green light.
