White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said today that violence and threats don’t belong in American political discourse.

Americans should be able to have a debate that’s civil and “without any threat of violence,” Gibbs told reporters on Air Force One when asked about reports of threats to members of Congress following this week’s health care vote.
