Chad Ludington, a college classmate of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, said Monday that “Brett has not told the truth” regarding his drinking habits in college.

Ludington said as much in a statement shared with news outlets Sunday night. He answered questions about his claims Monday.

Asked about a college roommate of Kavanaugh’s who claims that he never saw the nominee blackout drunk in college, and whose claims the White House promoted Monday, Ludington said: “I unfortunately believe that my probably-now-ex-friend is lying.”

Ludington is one of several former classmates of Kavanaugh’s to say that he has lied in characterizations of his college drinking.
