Former Congressman and former prison inmate Jim Traficant gave potential voters a taste of what his campaign might be like today on CNN.
He discussed the “progressive income tax, founded by Karl Marx, a Communist program,” and how it will make us “implode just like the Soviet Union.” Traficant also added that “we should throw illegal immigrants out.”
Also part of his platform? Clearing the good Traficant name: “Before my ordeal is over, the prosecutor will probably be in prison, and a bunch of other people for suborning perjury.”
“Jim Traficant,” said Traficant, “really didn’t commit any crime. I was the number one target of the Justice Department since 1983. And the number one target of a very powerful lobby, American Israel Public Affairs Committee.”
He added: “When you have these types of opponents, and they can’t beat you at the polls, sometimes you end up in prison.”
I think specifically, I think the words of Nelson Mandela ring true. He said if you really want to know the truth about a nation, you’ve got to go through their prisons.
