Russian singer Emin Agalarov, the architect of the now-infamous 2016 Trump Tower meeting, is cancelling his four-city U.S. tour after a failure to reach a deal over the parameters of his testimony with both Special Counsel Robert Mueller and Congress, according to a Tuesday CNN report.

Agalarov is not a U.S. citizen and not subject to U.S. jurisdiction. His lawyer told CNN that he would not agree to accept a subpoena, and that he was only interested in voluntary testimony, explaining the fight over the scope of what he would talk about.

“It’s the only choice we had,” the lawyer, Scott Balber, told CNN of cancelling the tour. “I’ve been endeavoring to engage with the special counsel’s office as well as various congressional committees and despite our best effort we haven’t been able to reach an agreement on the terms.”
