Jon Stewart waded into the spat between Fox News and CNN last night, knocking both organizations for continuing to report on their own feud rather than the ongoing strife in Libya.
Earlier this week, Fox said they did not send a correspondent stationed in Libya on a government-led tour for fear that he would be used as a human shield.
“Kudos to Fox for so quickly putting the crisis into service of their real mission, patriotic self-promotion,” Stewart said.
“Only they can turn, ‘our guy missed the shuttle bus’ into, ‘Fox News alone refuses to play patsy to America’s enemies,'” he added.
CNN correspondent Nic Robertson has fired back at Fox for their human shield claim, saying that he’d seen Fox’s reporter more often at breakfast than out reporting. In response, Fox’s reporter, Steve Harrigan, called Robertson, “boring.”
Stewart tried to rise above the fray, turning to Daily Show correspondent Jason Jones for some context on the fighting in Libya. All Jones wanted to talk about, however, was the grudge between Fox and CNN.
