FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Tom Brady’s agent says the NFL was determined to blame the Patriots quarterback for deflated footballs in the AFC title game, and that the investigation omitted key facts and buried others.

Don Yee released a statement Thursday saying the report prepared by NFL-appointed investigator Ted Wells was “a significant and terrible disappointment.”

Yee said the report “reached a conclusion first, and then determined so-called facts later,” and said Wells’ firm makes a lot of money from the NFL and put out a report that benefits the league.

Yee emphasized that the league should not have allowed a sting operation in a playoff game, and that Wells left out most of Brady’s testimony.

  1. "Yee said the report ‘reached a conclusion first, and then determined so-called facts later.’ "

What else could Yee say? That the probe was conducted fairly, and in the interest of good sportsmanship Brady apologizes for the incident? Get real.

It’s a damn shame such a towering talent will always carry an asterisk next to his name.

  2. Why is this even a story on TPM? it has nothing to do with the sites mission. Stick to politics.

  3. Is this still a thing…really?

Start taxing the NFL…Now that would be a story…

  4. Any reason to be surprised here? If the balls were uninflated, how would a Quarterback NOT feel it? Tom got up at the press conference and talked about the ritual he goes through in selecting balls for the game. He said he doesn’t like anyone touching the balls once he selects them. As soon as the reporters started asking questions, he turned into Sgt Schultz- “I have no knowledge of anything”, which is a slicker version of “I know nothing”.

  5. Other teams were of the opinion that there was something wrong with the Patriots footballs. The Ravens raised some doubt in the AFC east championship game. The Colts did the same thing. Bottom line… none of the Patriots peers trust them to abide by the rules. It will be interesting watching Goodell wiggle around on this.
