WASHINGTON (AP) — James Comey, the FBI director who was fired last year by President Donald Trump, is urging voters to support Democrats in November’s midterm elections.
Comey says on Twitter that the “Republican Congress has proven incapable of fulfilling the Founders’ design that ‘Ambition must … counteract ambition.'” That refers to the need for Congress to provide checks and balances to presidential power.
Comey writes: “All who believe in this country’s values must vote for Democrats this fall. … History has its eyes on us.”
The former FBI director recently said he no longer considers himself a Republican.
On Monday, after Trump’s press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Comey tweeted, “This was the day an American president stood on foreign soil next to a murderous lying thug and refused to back his own country.”
I think the thing that’s so troubling is the idea we could have elected someone who hates America so much.

Well here’s a news flash for Director Comey. They should’ve voted for Democrats in 2016 but he did his best to keep them from doing so. This Comey rehabilitation tour is really gut wrenching. Had he done what his office required of him we’d not have a President Trump. No Gorsuch. No Kavanaugh. No families would be separated, net neutrality would be in place, the wealthy would’t be soaking in tax money, Harley Davidson would be making bikes and they’d still be making nails in Missouri. And Russia would be in deep shit. But this Saint had a duty to do. And he did it and now we are where we are.
Republicans are going to end up not liking this guy.
Funny. He didn’t call Trump “careless and irresponsible”. All Trump did was betray 100 years of Presidential policy. But Hillary…she had a private email server.
Comey is merely stating what has become obvious: the Republican Party, along with its propaganda apparatus on TV and the internet, has become a malignant entity in the United States body politic. It must be defeated and if not disbanded, burnt to the ground so that the stereotyped bad faith politicians that now represent it (McCarthy, Nunes, Gowdy, Goodlatte, McConnell, Cornyn, Rand Paul) are turned out of power.
The GOP has been on this path since the Reagan Era. They and their propaganda media arms need to be defeated.
