Colbert: GOP Prez Nominee Could Just Be ‘A Gun With A Flag Pin’ (VIDEO)

Stephen Colbert waded into the 2012 speculation game last night, offering his thoughts on who would emerge next year as the Republican presidential nominee.

“Will the GOP choose Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, or just a gun with a flag pin?” Colbert asked.

Yet Colbert spurned the national candidates, reminding his viewers that President Obama’s primary legislative experience before his White House bid was as a state Senator in Illinois. With that in mind, Colbert introduced a new segment, “Mr Smith Goes To the State Legislature, Then Later, Possibly Washington.”

For the first installment, Colbert turned to Utah State Rep. Curtis Oda (R), a lawmaker best known for introducing a bill that would allow residents to ‘humanely’ kill feral animals in the state. Colbert lauded the initiative for allowing city dwellers to enjoy the sport of hunting, and noted how thrilling an Oda presidency would be.

“Imagine the excitement after his inauguration,” Colbert said, “when the whole country waits to see what kind of dog he gets–and then clubs to death.”
