NEW YORK (AP) — An attorney for President Donald Trump’s former lawyer says “any attempt at spin cannot change what is on” a recording of Trump discussing a potential payment for a former Playboy model’s account of having an affair with him years ago.

Attorney Lanny Davis said Friday the recording won’t hurt his client, former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen.

Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani says the payment was never made. Giuliani says what’s important is Trump said that if it were made it should be properly documented.

A person familiar with a federal investigation into Cohen tells The Associated Press that Cohen made the recording two months before Trump’s 2016 election. The person wasn’t authorized to discuss an ongoing criminal investigation and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

  1. Most importantly, the tape confirms what we already know, the “president” is a douche canoe.

  2. Do you mean spin like this attempt?

  3. Going out on a limb here but I suspect Trump’s actual grownup lawyers don’t think this is a good thing as much as Giuliani does.

Inconceivable that the government would break into a lawyer’s office (early in the morning) - almost unheard of. Even more inconceivable that a lawyer would tape a client - totally unheard of & perhaps illegal. The good news is that your favorite President did nothing wrong!

Damn, @rickjones, do I remember us doing this before, or is that one of my typical confabulations? Anyway great minds etc.

  4. Well, yes, but you have given me the chance for this …

  5. Donald urging his colleagues to be diligent in following the law.

How could we have been so wrong? Donald is a saint, I tell you. He’s a goddamn saint is what he is.
