Shortly after more allegations of sexual misconduct were made against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) dismissed the claims in an interview on Fox News, calling them a “weaponization of the #MeToo movement” that were “meant to taint.”
Cassidy suggested the involvement of Michael Avenatti, the lawyer known for representing Stormy Daniels, discredited Avenatti client Julie Swetnick’s new allegations in his mind.
“The source is being considered; not he accuser per se, but Avenatti— Avenatti, who, you know, lawyer to porn stars,” Cassidy told Fox News’ Harris Faulkner.
“We’re being told that a woman went to 10 different parties where women were being gang raped, and never reported it until, again, two days before this hearing,” Cassidy said. “That just doesn’t seem right to me. Why would she continue to go to parties where this would occur?”
The remarks echoed the similarly dismissive reaction of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who said: “I hope people will be highly suspicious of this allegation presented by Michael Avenatti.”
Cassidy argued that “the game plan of the left is to come out with an accusation, accusation, accusation which can never be disproved, but which are meant to taint.”
“It’s clearly a tactic in which people are revealing stuff in order to delay the vote,” he added. “At some point, you have to see the tactic as part of a larger strategy, I think we should go ahead with the vote.’’
While people who are sexually assaulted “have all of our sympathy,” Cassidy said, “I think we need to recognize that if somebody is withholding information and choosing people such as Avenatti, that appears more to be a tactic as part of a strategy, and perhaps not given the same validity.”
He concluded: “Based on what I’ve seen about these two minutes in time that are being alleged to be the issue here, everything seems to support Brett Kavanaugh.

I am sure Ms Swetnick gave careful consideration to signing the deposition that revealed the alleged behavior. WTF does Michael Avanetti have to do with that? These accusations are not tactics meant to taint… they are simply the fruits of the investigation that had to be done outside the Senate, because you know… 8 weeks is too long to leave an SC seat open.

I have not been and am not a fan of Avenatti - at least not the kind of fan who thinks he would make a good president. That being said, he delivered a full house in this latest poker game and it is an awful lot of fun watching GOP heads explode one after the other. It is more than fun - it is delicious.
