Many a candidate have been burned by their campaign song choices, but Bernie Sanders’ 1987 spoken word folk album could make choosing an official 2016 tune easy.
Seven Days, an independent Vermont news blog, resurfaced the album a day after Sanders officially entered the 2016 fray.
Sanders reportedly recorded the album – which features populist mainstays like “This Land Is Your Land” – in 1987, when he was mayor of Burlington, Vermont.
Sanders’ collaborator on “We Shall Overcome” told Seven Days that he would consider releasing the album as a CD if he announced a presidential run – so here’s hoping.
You can listen to previews of the full album here.

And, my fav:
Please tell me there’s a track on there of Howard Dean covering James Brown.
A former neighbor of mine once said he lived in Burlington when Bernie was mayor.
He said despite Bernie calling himself a socialist – and I don’t know if he did back then – he said Bernie was a good, salt of the earth kind of guy and not a big-government type.
He said he once asked to get a pothole on his street fixed, but Bernie told him it would be too expensive for the city due to all the expenses such as as putting out for a bid, meeting guidelines, etc. and instead gave my former neighbor the name and number of a local paving company that would drop a few shovelfuls onto the pothole and pat it down.
Bernie did, and Bernie was (and still is).
